Some announcements are especially fun to share, and this one lets us brag about one of our own. LA Master Chorale announced today that Katherine Powers, a longtime Lister and colleague, is moving from her post at POP to become LAMC’s new CEO. This position is difficult, influential, and requires intelligence, poise, and strategy… a keen understanding of what singer life involves is a major bonus. Katherine is well-equipped across the board, and we look forward to cheering her on in her new role.

Welcoming Katherine Powers to the Master Chorale Family
We are thrilled to share some exciting news with you! Katherine Powers has been named the Los Angeles Master Chorale’s new President & Chief Executive Officer.
A Los Angeles-based arts leader, educator and performer, Katherine joins us from Pacific Opera Project, where she has served as Executive Director since 2023. She brings a deep connection to the Los Angeles arts community and a passion for the power of the human voice.
“Katherine is a fantastically dynamic arts leader, and I know that she and I will have a very close and productive partnership,” says Kiki & David Gindler Artistic Director Grant Gershon. “The Master Chorale is a treasure, both locally and internationally, and Katherine Powers is the perfect person to help us touch more people’s lives through our voices and the music that we love.”
Katherine is equally excited to join the Chorale. “The human voice is our most universal instrument, and few ensembles demonstrate its power more profoundly than the Los Angeles Master Chorale,” she says. “I’m honored to work alongside Grant, the board, the staff, and our singers to build on that extraordinary foundation and imagine what comes next.”
Her arrival marks an exciting new chapter for the Master Chorale as we celebrate Grant Gershon’s 25th year with the organization and embark on an ambitious 2026/27 season. And you, our patrons, are an essential part of that story.
