As an OperaWorks alumna myself, I’m sorry to see this announcement from Ann Baltz, but fully acknowledge the number of singers this organization has nurtured over the years, with innovative and multi-skilled instruction, unforgettable performances, and an overall experience that lasts a lifetime. Thanks to all of you that make OperaWorks a reality, and best wishes as you forge ahead into your individual futures.

Here’s the original announcement – the text is below the image:
Greetings to you,
It is with a deep sense of satisfaction in the work that has been accomplished that I write to you now. After much thoughtful consideration, the OperaWorksTM Board of Directors and I have made the decision to bring all OperaWorks programming to a close.
When I founded OperaWorks in 1987, it came from a simple but deeply held belief that great artists are not formed in isolation, but in community. Voice, imagination, and courage grow when artists are seen, challenged, and supported by one another.
The world has changed profoundly in recent years. Rather than reshape OperaWorks into something fundamentally different from what it was created to be, we felt the most honest choice was to let it conclude as itself—and to trust that its work continues through the thousands of artists and teachers who carry its spirit forward.
This is not a farewell for me. I continue to teach and to create human-centered works in residencies, carrying forward the same values that shaped OperaWorks from the beginning.
To remember the nearly 40 years of OperaWorks, I invite you to visit our new OperaWorks legacy website to reminisce, celebrate, and leave a comment on the Memories page.
To every artist who trusted us with their growth, every faculty member who gave their wisdom, every supporter who believed in this work, and every member of our extended OperaWorks family—thank you. You are the real legacy.
With much gratitude,
Ann Baltz
