Energy burst

The official first day of spring is coming up this week, and California has felt like it’s experiencing a huge growth spurt. With so much rain (thank goodness) and more arts happenings taking place everywhere, the world seems to be charged with excitement, even as we continue to learn to live cautiously with COVID. Spring has always felt like a huge surge of creativity has taken over, and Tolstoy sums up, “Spring is the time of plans and projects.” Arts presenters are rolling out their next seasons, spring and summer festivals are gearing up for greatness, and there’s plenty of magic in the air.

In fact, there is a lot going on right now, so that magic is being put to good use: churches are deep into Lent, choirs are prepping for a whole spectrum of spring concerts, we’re right in the middle of both Women’s History Month and Arts Education Month, both of which will get proper attention on our blog over the next two weeks. This is the time of year when ideas seem to leap to mind and forward motion can be effortless, if you can harness it.

Today, of course, is St. Patrick’s Day — we touched on that in this space last week. (I couldn’t wait… but now I can wish a happy birthday to my sister Janna, the family representative to the Leprechauns!) Be sure to wear something green, eat something green, take note of the luck in your life, and enjoy it fully. Have a great week, everyone!
