LAURI D GOLDENHERSH’s Weekly Highlights from the
Clickable Chamber Music Newsletter
[Apologies for awful tardiness this week — was sidelined by a seasonal bug. While I missed the deadline for Jim’s newsletter, I’d would like to share a few suggestions here. Hope they’re useful. –L]
Diving right in…

If you haven’t heard the Verdi Chorus yet, head out for “Sound & Fury” this week. They’re the only choir we (or their director) are aware of that only performs opera, and that’s no gimmick. It’s a passion project that already spans more than three decades. Check out our recent interview with conductor Anne Marie Ketchum, then go to one of two performances in Santa Monica this weekend. Read the interview

The wildly creative, cartoon-driven Magic Flute starts at LA Opera this Saturday. Barrie Kosky‘s unique approach to telling Mozart’s bizarre tale of adventure and terror and ladies and Kinder and a queen and romance and heroism and seemingly blind luck is all that and more. Read about the production in my review from its last visit to LA, and click here to get your tickets!

Also Saturday (it’s a big night!), Vox Femina takes on one of their most challenging programs yet, intertwining Italian influences with music from Vivaldi and Ospedali, and with texts by Leonardo set in a newly commissioned work by Jocelyn Hagen. Want to think like da Vinci? Try using music to get inside his head. Who knows what you’re capable of… Get tickets and info here
HOUSEKEEPING NOTE: The blog and newsletters connected with Lauri’s List will be “dark” during Thanksgiving week, so please make sure all of your events into early December are submitted to the calendar asap. We’ll be back, but we need to hear from you now, as next week will cover a longer stretch!
Thank you all for your continued support of live vocal music, and stay tuned for more coming up — the holidays are almost here!

REMINDER: The Lauri’s List calendar is now “self-serve”, which means it’s up to presenters and performers to make sure their vocal events are on our calendar. Go to laurislist.com/calendar and click the “Submit event” button at the top. Basic listings are still free!
