“Three Wishes” — LAURI D GOLDENHERSH’s Weekly Highlights

With such a wealth of arts options in beautiful SoCal, we are truly spoiled for choice. Here are just three things I’d pick, if I could be everywhere at all times:
FRIDAY, 2/1 at 12:15pm, ‘Viola Songs’ brings one of Brahms’ vocal treasures to CLASSICAL CROSSROADS’ charming noontime series in Torrance. Mezzo-soprano KATARZYNA SADEJ performs with pianist BASIA BOCHENEK and violist ALMA LISA FERNANDEZ. The concert is free — all you have to do is show up and enjoy. Get details

Speaking of lunchtime, SAN DIEGO OPERA’s ‘Opera on the Concourse’ concerts feature SDO stars in a casual, fun presentation of opera gems and Broadway favorites, all selected by the performers themselves. It’s the perfect way to get a friend or family member to try opera for the first time, or just to take a break midday. Learn more
While you’re southward, don’t miss SDO’s Rigoletto, featuring the dynamic STEPHEN POWELL in the title role and ALISA JORDHEIM as Gilda. Four performances start SAT 2/2 and run through February 10. Get tickets now
