“Three Wishes” — LAURI D GOLDENHERSH’s Weekly Highlights
Sometimes the arts aren’t precisely about art. They’re more about the people who make it all happen. That’s what we’re looking at this week, with three events that color outside the lines of usual performance events.
In their 4th Annual fundraiser that puts voices on wheels, VOX FEMINA cycles for their org on Saturday 4/21 at Ballona Creek. Join the ladies of Vox at ‘Song Cycle 2018’, to cheer them on, donate a little something of your own, and take advantage of the other doings at the park site. Get more info and directions to Culver City Park by clicking here
Sunday 4/22 brings a creative wine-and-music pairing from DE ANGELIS VOCAL ENSEMBLE, where you can sip a little sumptin, hang out with performers and the dAVE community, and support a fine choral organization. Learn more here
Have you ever been to a Taizé service? This relatively new tradition brings all kinds of people together with meditative, chant-inspired music and an almost palpable sense of community, showing how much music and shared experience can do for the body as well as the soul. Give it a try Tuesday night 4/24, with a ‘Taizé Service of Healing and Wholeness’ at St. Francis Church in Palos Verdes Estates. The event is free, of course, and you’ll never forget it. Click here
What’s your wish this week? Check the calendar for many more options, and find some music that lights something up. Have a beautiful week!
