Stand and remember

Memorial Day weekend tends to be more full of barbecues and beaches and the thrill of the annual summer gateway, but for some, it brings out the champion within:

For the South Bay Children’s Choir, for instance, this weekend’s ‘American Kaleidoscope’ concerts include repertoire from across the years in American music, including everything from works from the Colonial era to jazz and folk music to modern choral music from our own SoCal backyard.  Saturday and Sunday

Vineyard Touring Opera digs into local history, as their reprised production of L.C. Harnsberger’s Golondrina (formerly known as ‘Olvera Street’ and premiered in 2015) tells of an epic architectural battle more than 90 years ago.  Two performances on Saturday

Monday night, the San Diego Pro Arte Voices get vocal for social justice, with ‘Disarm Hate‘, a choral program that stands against gun violence. One night only

The holiday does encourage us to ask, “what do you stand for?”  Have a beautiful, thoughtful and fun weekend, everyone. Stand with, or for, someone you love.
