This just in!

One of our Listers (pictured right) has been writing like crazy, and one of SoCal’s most popular regional troupes has grabbed the chance to produce the premiere of her opera. The Monkey’s Paw. They’ll pair it with Menotti’s The Medium for a unique Halloween double bill, with six performances in two very hip locations. Congrats to both Pacific Opera Project and to composer/soprano/violinist Brooke deRosa. We’re looking forward to seeing the result in October!
Email release follows.
A world premiere is added to the Fall 2017 Season
The fun never stops at POP! As an addition to our already exciting fall season, we are thrilled to announce POP’s first world premiere opera, The Monkey’s Paw, by Brooke deRosa.
In addition to being a first-rate coloratura soprano (you may remember her from The Impresario and Ariadne auf Naxos) Brooke is an accomplished film and television composer, having scored over fifteen projects in the past five years. The Monkey’s Paw will be her first opera and we are so pleased that POP is in a position to produce this work by a Los Angeles based female composer.
The Monkey’s Paw is a perfect paring for The Medium. If you are unfamiliar with the short story by W.W. Jacobs, you can find it here. These two chilling ghost stories are the perfect combination for the Halloween season. Tickets are already on sale for October 27th, 28th, and 31st at The Ebell Club of Highland Park, and on November 3rd, 4th, and 5th at The Miles Memorial Playhouse in Santa Monica. Tables are available at The Ebell. Casting and more details will be announced very soon
