Happy Groundhog Day!

Today is also the birthday of legendary Swedish tenor Jussi Björling, making this week an extra-special time to enjoy classic operas.

It’s never too early to get kids interested in classical music, and while LA OPERA’s Figaro’s American Adventure is quite sold out, the regional LA METROPOLITAN OPERA offers a performance of the beloved Hansel and Gretel on Saturday afternoon, for a chance to get the whole family out of the house and wrapped into an unforgettable story. Gather your breadcrumbs so you can leave a trail: The FREE event takes place in Simi Valley, and you can get information by clicking here.

Need a little inspiration for Valentine’s Day? This Saturday afternoon 2/4, REPERTORY OPERA COMPANY gets romantic with their annual ‘Serenades of Love’ concert in Pomona. You’ll have ten full days before the cupids swarm to get your sweetie something great. To start with tickets, click here

Saturday evening ushers in a new choral group, TONALITY, with an event in Altadena led by conductor ALEXANDER BLAKE and borne out of a passion for peace and social justice. Free admissions, with donations welcome. Click here

Sunday 2/5, LE SALON DE MUSIQUES goes über-Romantic with a program of Mahler and Schubert, including the classic Songs of a Wayfarer sung by locally-rooted baritone rising, DAVID CASTILLO, who joins violinist CHIAI TAJIMA, cellist TIMOTHY LANDAUER and pianist FRANCOIS CHOUCHAN for the salon-iest of salons. Hang onto your hats, and we’re heading into the busy-busy-busy season. The hubbub reminds us again: thank you for supporting live singing!
