… and a-one, and a-two…

The Industry, an iconoclast opera company based in Los Angeles that is changing the genre, returns this weekend with not only their annual showcase of new operatic bites, but an updated look at Bonnie and Clyde, the progressing work by Andrew McIntosh and Melinda Rice.

Friday’s performance of “First Take”, a series of six new works in the making, takes place at San Pedro’s Aratani Theater.  Presenting composers include Marc Lowenstein, Dylan Mattingly, John Hastings, Nicholas Deyoe, William Gardiner and Laura Karpman. Admission is free, and seating is first-come, first-served once reserved seats are filled.

“Second Take” brings two of the last century’s most notorious “bad guys” to the opera stage, when Bonnie and Clyde comes to the Wilshire Ebell Theater for a single concert performance.  This is the expanded work based on the twenty-minute presentation at First Take 2015, and is based on extensive research of the titular couple, outlining their lives beyond the legend. Tickets are just $10.
