Lauri D. Goldenhersh’s Weekly Highlights
Happy New Year! While most of us are still dusting ourselves off after the hustle and bustle of the holidays, a few presenters are diving right into 2017. Let’s take a look:
JOUYSSANCE continues their Twelfth Night tradition to wrap up Christmas in old-school style, with ‘Frohe Weihnachten’ and music by European masters. The concerts are Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon, in Westwood and Pasadena, respectively. Click here
Next Wednesday, check out the changes at CHRIST CATHEDRAL in Garden Grove: formerly known as the Crystal Cathedral, this iconic architectural masterpiece is now the seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Orange, and in the middle of their inaugural concert season under the new moniker. With a free performance by the visiting NOTRE DAME UNIVERSITY LITURGICAL CHOIR in the Arboretum (behind the main sanctuary, off the parking lot), you can combine beautiful singing with a visit to one of the most unique destinations in SoCal. For more details, directions, parking and more, click here.
Get your seats now: PASADENA OPERA brings Mozart’s zany Cosi fan tutte into 1967’s Summer of Love, with three unique performances at the end of the month (Jan 27-29) at A Noise Within in Pasadena. Since this company launched in 2014, they have earned raves from both critics and the singers who work with them, and this update is sure to intrigue. Learn more and get tickets
While the vocal world is still easing into the new year with a fairly light calendar, watch out, as there is much more to come. We’ll have more for you next week. Stay healthy, so we can thank you for supporting live singing!
