Vox Femina is facing their 20th Anniversary season… and getting a little help from their funding friends, with two grants awarded last month that will help the excellent choral organization grow even further.
First, as part of the Los Angeles County Arts Commission‘s Arts Internship Program, Vox is one of more than 200 organizations who get a little extra support this summer. Their team will be joined by Elissa Wells, a junior theatre and dance major at Muhlenberg College, who has also recently completed a semester abroad in Vienna, studying vocal performance. This opportunity is an extension of Vox’s ongoing partnership with Mira Costa High School, as Elissa is an alumnus of the school’s excellent choirs, and will now have an opportunity to learn more about the arts, hands-on and behind-the-scenes.
Vox Femina has also received a generous $10,000 grant from the Ralph M. Parsons Foundation to support their celebratory 20th anniversary season. The foundation’s has offered Vox various means of support for the last 7 years, but this substantial gift will be instrumental in laying the groundwork for the next phase of the ensemble’s development and to broaden their work in the community, most notably through the development of an educational outreach program for youth.
