POP’s Trekkie take on Mozart coming to the Ford Amphitheatre in September

No one should “boldly go” just once.  For the folks at Pacific Opera Project, their Star Trek-themed Abduction from the Seraglio is getting major play this summer, with an outing at the newly rehabbed Ford Amphitheatre in the Cahuenga Pass. The parody production got raves for creativity when it premiered in NoHo in March 2015, although there was frustration expressed by many of our community members with a few casting decisions, which seemed driven more by appearance than vocalism.  But hopefully those issues will be rectified in the second run.

POP revives the show in front of 1200 theatergoers on September 3.  With as much attention as this production has already gotten, and from a very diverse mix of arts, sci-fi and theater watchdogs, this show is likely to sell out.  Be sure to get your tickets early — no Klingon required.

POP’s hit Star Trek-themed parody is coming to the Ford Amphitheatre this summer!

That’s right!  POP’s most successful production of all time, TheAbduction from the Seraglio is coming home to one of Los Angeles’ most historic venues for one night only. September 3 at 8pm, the original cast of Abduction will beam down to the 1200 seat venue in the heart of Hollywood, directly across from the Hollywood Bowl. What a setting! The Ford has been closed for the past two years to undergo a 65.8 million dollar renovation and we are lucky enough to be a part of their Grand Reopening Season.  Read more about the reopening in an LA Times article that published yesterday here.

Tickets are on sale right now at www.fordtheatres.org. All tickets must be purchased through The Ford offices and website.  However, you can find more complete details about ticket prices, seating options, the cast, and the production on the  POP site.

The complete original cast from our 2015 production is returning for this exciting event, along with 40 Klingons, Alien Slave Girls, and full orchestra.

Filling 1200 seats is a big job, but we have no doubt we can sell every single one! In fact, we’ve been bragging to the Ford about how easy it is going to be. So back up our claims and buy your tickets early. And buy a few extra too, because this is the perfect production and setting to introduce your friends to POP, and to opera in general. Think of it… Star Trek, Mozart, an outdoor performance on a holiday weekend, and you can bring your own picnic and drinks–does it get any better than that?  Please, share our promo video on social media to help us get the word out.

Thank you for being the best audience in all of Los Angeles. I can’t wait to get all of the POP fans together in one place this September — now that is going to be a party no one wants to miss! Thank you for making this event a reality through your loyal attendance and support. Thanks to you POP is certain to live long and prosper!
