Art-ing it out: we sing, she painted

This is quite a compliment to our art, from one of the last century’s greatest artists.  It speaks to the interconnection between disciplines, of course, and reminds us that every artist is, in one way or another,  working toward the same goal:  to express and expand our understanding of life.  It’s a heady idea, to be sure, but it sits at the root of all we do.  (Or if it doesn’t, perhaps you need to find a great painting or book or sculpture and find it again!)

“Singing has always seemed to me the most perfect means of expression.  Since I cannot sing, I paint.”
