Lauri D. Goldenhersh’s Weekly Highlights
Brrrr!!!
It finally feels like fall. (Well, a little bit. Toes need slippers!) In addition to our mild California chill, November and December bring some of the world’s most beautiful choral music, every year. This week brings world-class ensemble THE KINGS’ SINGERS to the Barclay Theatre in Irvine; as well as other choral programs with variety beyond belief
Opera is out in full force as well, with several continuing productions (see below); a program of Shakespearean selections at CSU Fullerton; a Verdian pastiche from LA MET; and an innovative piece of operatic performance art with ‘vARIAtions’ later Friday, produced and performed by ROKSANA ZEINAPUR and MAKSIM VELICHKIN.
The big names in opera are also in the area this week, as PIOTR BECZALA and PASQUALE ESPOSITO perform separately at The Broad (Santa Monica); DEBORAH VOIGT helps CSU Fullerton celebrate the music department’s 50th anniversary and the designation of the School of Music, with a gala event on Sunday; and CSUN alumna MICHELLE DEYOUNG returns to her alma mater for a recital at VPAC, appearing with pianist KEVIN MURPHY.

Stay warm and healthy, and have a beautiful week. As always, thank you for supporting live singing!
