Lauri D. Goldenhersh’s Weekly Highlights
One beautiful event after another tells us that it’s fall, the season is in full swing, and there will be no sitting at home with your favorite Netflix binge. Get yourself to one of these choice musical happenings, or pick one from the many more on the calendar:
Sunday 10/11, ethereal soprano JACQUELYNNE FONTAINE comes to Rolling Hills UMC for an afternoon recital not to be missed. Ms. Fontaine is currently part of the 25th Anniversary National Tour of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s perennial favorite, Phantom of the Opera, playing the diva Carlotta, so she won’t be coming back to us again very soon. Later that evening, witness the dawn of a brand-new orchestra as the YOUNG ARTISTS SYMPHONY serves up Mahler’s 2nd under the baton of artistic director ALEXANDER TREGER, and featuring vocal soloists AMANDA ACHEN and NIKÉ ST. CLAIR, with choral parts sung by the ANGELES CHORALE. Be there for the start of this new SoCal ensemble — Learn more
Monday night, 10/12, get your cords going with a ‘Community Sing’ hosted by the LOS ANGELES MASTER CHORALE, and a chance to work with one of the major influences in modern choral music: maestra MARíA GUINAND. The evening’s activities will include a post-sing reception, and tickets are free — but you must RSVP online, asap: Get details
Finally, I promised you a Hopscotch interview with THE INDUSTRY’s artistic director, YUVAL SHARON, and we got a good one! Read more about the production and all of the work behind it in our e-chat on the Singerpreneur blog. (Thanks, Yuval!) Click here
Coming up
Poulenc’s one-woman opera, La voix humaine, comes to Pasadena’s BOSTON COURT, on 10/16, and the intimate venue will likely sell out — get tickets now! Get details and tickets
