Retro fauna drama with Chorale Bel Canto

Chorale Bel Canto and Redlands Opera Theatre hit the stage with an unusual program from eras past

You probably know what a unicorn and a gorgon (e.g. Medusa) look like. But this logo from the UK record label might help with the other one…

Mythical beasts 101:
What do a horse with a horn, a snake-haired witch and a human-faced lion with a scorpion’s tail have in common?

Why, composer Gian-Carlo Menotti, of course!

Catch a selection of classic opera choruses and a presentation of Menotti’s The Unicorn, the Gorgon and the Manticore this weekend in Pasadena, for a trip into lesser-known fantasy and great music with soloists Christa Stevens (soprano), Danielle Marcelle Bond (mezzo-soprano), and Orson Van Gay II (tenor), with Linda West Brown at the piano and Stephen Gothold conducting.
