American painter James Whistler (the guy who made his mom and her rocking chair famous) knew what he was talking about: we are more than sum of our gigs.“An artist is not paid for his labor but for his vision.” — James Whistler
“Whistler’s Mother” and two other famous works are currently on display at our friendly neighborhood Norton Simon Museum, as part of a swap with the Musée d’Orsay in Paris. The other paintings included in the bargain are Manet’s iconic portrait of Emile Zola; and Cézanne’s Card Players. The technically impressive and powerful trio of works will be on display through June 22, and well worth a little trip to Pasadena. Read more and buy tickets
