Very now, very local: Hear Now Festival returns for a 5th year

Collaborating with a diverse group of composers and presenting well-known regional performers, the Hear Now Music Festival is coming up with three days of contemporary classical (with premieres galore), May 1-3.  The festival is crafted in the spirit of building community and supporting one another (just what we love to see, of course), and this year marks their first partnership with the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, as well as the ongoing relationship with the innovators at People Inside Electronics. They’ll again feature the Lyris Quartet and introduce a partnership with Brightwork music. Our reviewers will be covering a good chunk of the music, but be sure to get your tickets so you can hear it for yourself.  Two of this year’s programs feature vocalists Niké St. Clair, Thomas Buckner (both Saturday evening) and Jamie Chamberlin (Sunday), but even hardcore vocal types will want to attend as much of this happening as possible. The Saturday “marathon” includes time for food trucks and picnics during the breaks, and each concert has its own special flavor.

You can purchase tickets to individual concerts, get a 2-concert pass, or buy a Festival Pass for the whole shebang.  A student discount is also available (with ID).  Get details on Hear Now’s website, and we’ll see you there!
