SOUTHERN CA VOCAL EVENTS

Weekly Highlights

And they’re off!

BACH COLLEGIUM SAN DIEGO launches their season with ‘Leipzig Legacy’, a program of… well, Bach, of course, but also Knüpfer, Schelle and Kuhnau, illustrating the essential role of cantor at the storied city’s St. Thomas Church.  Tickets start at just $10, and this ensemble continues to grow and amaze.  Two performances, in La Jolla and Balboa Park.  Click here

The debut performance of L.A. CHORAL LAB comes to Zipper Hall on Friday night, with an ensemble comprised of a variety of excellent voices from all over SoCal.  We can’t help getting excited about this new venture, as it’s chock full of Listers, including director MICHAEL ALFERA and accompanist TALI TADMOR.  I’ll be there with bells on.  Get details so you can join us.

The SAN DIEGO MASTER CHORALE switches hats for their season opener, offering a program that celebrates ‘The Operatic Chorus’.  TESSERAE takes an even less-trodden path, going tiki tropical for their Echo Park fundraiser. (Sounds like fund!  ;-p)  And finally, OPERA ON TAP brings Oktoberfest into the heat of summer, bringing their own flair to the Room 5 Lounge in Hollywood.  Check out all three of these events on the calendar.

CONTINUING:

Two companies, two versions:  La Traviata continues at CENTER STAGE OPERA and LA OPERA, in Canoga Park and Downtown LA, respectively.

Further south, PACIFIC LYRIC ASSOCIATION offers Rigoletto in Escondido.

Also, the “moving production” of Puccini’s Tosca continues through 9/28 with PACIFIC OPERA PROJECT.

RECENT REVIEWS:

Our Singerpreneur blog houses reviews from community members and our team contributors, and here are the most recent offerings:
