Weekly Highlights
Just a few new events to share with you this week:
In case you missed it [earlier in the original newsletter], the new series, ‘Hardly Strictly Classical’ launches on Saturday, and their debut concert features none other than LA’s soprano darling JANAI BRUGGER, who got her start here, and continues to amaze. Click here
CEORA WINDS hits the plaza on Friday at the newly burnished Brand Library in Glendale, as the ensemble welcomes mezzo-soprano JENNI BRANDON for a free evening concert in the perfect setting for a late-summer Friday. Jenni is seen more often in her composer and/or conductor hats, so this is an unusual opportunity to hear what I’m told is a truly lovely voice. Learn more
REMINDERS — both 9/13:
LA OPERA starts the run of their gorgeous art deco production of La Traviata this weekend. Learn more from the preview on the Singerpreneur blog
ANGELES CHORALE gets happy with ‘Unbridled Joy’, a program of gospel, spirituals and Robert Ray’s Gospel Mass, all practically guaranteed to bring down the walls of Jericho:
COMING UP:
Two groups from LA CHILDREN’S CHOIR take us ‘Bach to Broadway’ on Friday 9/19, with guest performances by the powerhouse trio that is KAREN HOGLE BROWN, SCOTT GRAFF and SHAWN KIRCHNER. (These three never fail to amuse and impress.) A little heads-up now, so you can head over to St. Andrew’s in Pasadena next week… Get details
More next week, as the season is heating up quickly. As always, thank you for supporting live singing!
