SOUTHERN CA VOCAL EVENTS Lauri D. Goldenhersh’s Weekly Highlights
July is rich with vocal music goodies!
This weekend brings another ‘Amici della Musica‘ from CENTER STAGE OPERA, a concert from INSPIRAVI CHAMBER CHOIR (with a reputation growing like mad), and the ALL-AMERICAN BOYS CHORUS. See the calendar for the 411.
On Wednesday 7/16, CHORAL ARTS INITIATIVE hosts a forum in Newport Beach featuring two local composers, DALE TRUMBORE and JEFFREY VAN, with a program called ‘Generations Speak‘. This new choral group is making waves and we’re hearing good things, so be sure to get on their mailing list and pencil in their ‘Reconciliation‘ concert on the 19th. The forum is free, but tickets are limited. For information, click here
The annual IPALPITI FESTIVAL includes a concert with Icelandic soprano DISELLA LARUSDOTTIR and American countertenor DANIEL BUBECK, performing at LACMA on 7/20, with LA’s own LISA EDWARDS at the piano. Get details
CONTINUING:
The first outing of unSUNg was truly beautiful in June, and we’re heartily looking forward to hearing July’s artists: with a choral world premiere by O.F. ECHEVERRY and Lister KALEY LANE EATON, plus music by JON D. MURRAY, GEORGE N. GIANOPOULOS and songs by some guy named Puccini (you remember him, right?), be sure to mark it on your calendar now.
