LA Chamber Singers’ spring fest champions great works in small groups

Peter Rutenberg isn’t just a conductor-composer-educator-pianist-writer…  (we must be missing a few).  He’s a true enthusiast, whose passion for truly great music extends from early to contemporary and has provided equally jazzed audiences with extraordinary concerts and recordings for many years.  Peter RutenbergWith the Los Angeles Chamber Singers in various configurations (and under the moniker of Cappella),  Rutenberg (pictured right) creates fascinating, well-informed programs filled with works that get under the skin of the audience, resonating so deeply that some will talk about them years later.  The Grammy-winning ensemble has shown deft handling of “Music of the Mexican Baroque“, to many rave reviews and cries for more.  Sadly, the group doesn’t perform as much as they used to, but when they do, you won’t want to miss it — catch them this weekend and next for one or both of these glorious programs, both of which promise to expand our ideas of what a choral sound can be.
