Dare ya to say it five times fast: “Mystical Meditation Medievalists”
It’s not just canny alliteration. Saturday’s program, hosted by Classical Revolution LA, combines the talents of soprano Katina Mitchell and period string player Alexa Pilon (playing a vielle, a bowed instrument similar a fiddle) to explore music that is up to 900 years old. Both performers are early music specialists, doctoral candidates at USC, and bring an inventive spirit to creating programs that blast from the past.
This concert takes place at Silverlake Lounge, continuing the new tradition of placing old music in surprising venues. It also gives us an excuse to grab a drink and step into the musical Wayback Machine, for a fascinating and comfy ride.
