LAURI D GOLDENHERSH’s Weekly Highlights

It’s so good to be back!  After last week’s unintended hiatus, we return to a full calendar and must to choose from:

OPERA A LA CARTE joins forces with LARK for a romp with ‘The Mikado’ in Pasadena this weekend:  This undeniably one of OALC’s best shows, and the opportunity to see them in the historic and beautiful Ambassador Auditorium is rare and precious.  With shows on Friday and Saturday evening, try to fit one in.  For details and tickets, visit Lark’s website by clicking:

In anticipation of LONG BEACH OPERA’s production of Philip Glass’ ‘Fall of the House of Usher’, debuting on the 27th in San Pedro, the company offers one of their fascinating ‘Coincidences’ events on Saturday:  ‘Deep Into the Darkness’ draws the lines of connection between Glass and Edgar Allen Poe, the author of the original ‘Usher’ story.  With dramatic readings, snippets from LBO’s cast members and the screening of a 1915 film about Poe, there is no better way to gear yourself up for this pioneering company’s season debut.  Get details on this event and the production itself by clicking:

RED CAR TROLLEY is performing full steam ahead, as this able quartet takes on fun and innovative programs with beautiful singing and increasing momentum.  The combined voices of soprano REBECCA RASMUSSEN, alto JENNIFER APPLEBERRY, tenor BRIAN DYER and bass NORGE YIP come to Mar Vista for a concert at St. Bede’s on Sunday the 20th, singing of ‘Birds, Buds and Beatles’ at 6pm.  Performing pieces from “Renaissance to jazz, classical to contemporary”, this group is one to watch (and to hear, of course).  For details, click (and Like):

Keep an eye out for many more beautiful programs as next week will be a big one!  As always, thank you for supporting live singing!
