Vocal ensemble surfs poetry
with unique choral program Choral organizations come in all shapes and sizes, just like the singers that populate them. Conductor Sheridan Ball has taken his community choral organization through some interesting musical paces in recent years, challenging and developing his singers and fostering fierce loyalty among the members of his choirs. The program slated for the upcoming 10/28 concert by Méritage Vocal Arts Ensemble, however, is particularly unusual, featuring works by Czech-American composer Vaclav Nelhybel, Z. Randall Stroope, Nathan Jones, Daniel Elder and Knut Nystedt. By choosing poetry-driven repertoire that explores a wide range of emotional hues, this concert is designed to intrigue and challenge the audience as well as the musicians. Just what we love.
