We love to see innovation in fundraising, especially for performing organizations. Kudos to the ever-inventive Celestial Opera for hosting a Bookfair event at the Barnes & Noble in Glendale this weekend. The Bookfair takes place Saturday, May 16, letting the public know about their performances and their organization, and to raise money for the next season. These events have been popular with schools, but this sort of creative fundraising (especially connected with things people already spend on) is just what arts organizations need. For a map to the Glendale store, click here. They’ll benefit from vouchered purchases all day Saturday, May 16. Troupe members will sing favorite arias at 12:30pm, led by music director Brian Farrell. By printing out the voucher from Celestial’s website and presenting it before each purchase, a portion of your sale price (including yummy café purchases) will go to support Celestial’s doings. Be sure to print more than one, so you can buy your cake and your summer reading, too!
Visit Celestial’s website here to learn more about this great company, the Bookfair, or view photo albums. You’ll also find information about their upcoming ‘Midsummer Night’s Gala’ on June 20, the annual fundraising event that our Listers say is worth every penny.
